Following the events of 1963, the Cyprus Turkish Community, which gathered in their own regions, began to establish their own administration immediately after the reduction of conflicts, and in this context, the Cyprus Turkish Administration was established in 1968. The Membership of Finance and Economic Affairs was also established within this framework. In those years, the Membership of Finance and Economic Affairs carried out its duties under very difficult conditions under the current Courts building.
As a result of the Happy Peace Operation carried out by our Motherland Turkey in 1974, with the establishment of a new Turkish state, the duties, powers and responsibilities of our Ministry expanded and in parallel with this, in addition to the Revenue and Tax Department and the Finance Department affiliated to our Ministry, the Budget Department, the Customs and Excise Department, the State Real Estate and Materials Department, the Financial Inspection and Review Board, and the Money, Foreign Exchange and Development Fund Affairs Departments were newly created.
Due to the establishment of a new state and the provision of customs services at airports and seaports, new customs cadres were created, and in parallel, the cadres of the Revenue and Tax Department and the Finance Department were expanded. After the 1974 Happy Peace Operation, the State Real Estate and Materials Department was established under our Ministry for the evaluation of treasury goods obtained and the execution of state tender works. The Financial Inspection and Review Board Department was established to carry out audits within our ministry in accordance with the rules of the Financial Inspection and Review Board Law. As a result of the increase in the duties and powers of our Ministry and the expansion of our cadres, our new ministry building was constructed.
